OUR STORY
From “Adventures with Alyssa” to Discovering Your City Together
Back in 2020, on my 20th birthday, when the world was just starting to slowly open back up, I took things into my own hands and started a blog called Adventures with Alyssa. It was a time when so many local businesses desperately needed buzz, and honestly, most people were glued to their phones. It felt like the perfect moment to try something new—to help shine a light on the hidden gems around us and give people a fresh reason to explore.
As I kept creating, something shifted. Alex got more involved, and Adventures with Alyssa grew beyond just me. We realized this wasn’t about becoming influencers or building a personal brand—it was about what we love to do as a couple, and how we could inspire others to live their best lives together.
This year, 2025, we’re proud to say we’re now married—partners in life and in business—continuing this journey side by side.
Both graduates of Old Dominion University, Alex holds a degree in Public Relations, and I have a degree in Tourism Management. I’ve worked across hospitality—from recreational tourism to boutique and conference center hotels—so we bring real industry insight to the stories we tell.
We started Discovering Your City to showcase what makes each city we visit truly stand out. We pride ourselves on capturing engaging photos and videos that highlight events, destinations, restaurants, vacation properties, and so much more.
At our core, this is about connection—helping you spend more intentional time with the people you love while supporting the local businesses that make every place special.

We fell in love while ballin’ on a college budget
our early dates were free events, yoga classes at the student rec center, beach sunsets, and scoring the best local deals (aka the DYC way before it had a name).
Alex is an avid outdoorsman
When he’s not behind the camera, you’ll find him fishing, freediving, hiking, or dreaming about his next hunting trip.
We’re both proud ODU grads and former D1 athletes
Alex played football, Alyssa was a competitive and sideline dancer. Safe to say, we love a challenge and know how to hustle.
Alyssa’s love languages?
Yoga, shopping, and finding the best coffee roasts in every city we visit.
Guilty of saying, “We could totally move here,” in almost every city we visit.
Spoiler alert: our suitcases are always half-packed just in case.
Our dog Luna is more than just a pet—she’s the real star of the show.
If it’s dog-friendly, she’s coming with us (and probably stealing the spotlight in the content too).
By pure coincidence, we often find ourselves crossing paths with celebrities
just a fun bonus to our adventures.
We’re adrenaline junkies—especially Alyssa!
From ziplining and roller coasters to rock climbing, watersports, and even cliff jumping (yes, really), we’re always chasing speed, heights, and that rush that keeps us coming back for more.
And as a couple? Sushi is our love language
if there’s a spicy tuna roll on the menu, we’re already ordering two.
